I was never really into scrapbooking but after seeing a paper bag album, it struck my interest. There aren’t too many tutorials around online so I pretty much taught myself. All scrapbookers have the enormous stacks of paper, stickers, ribbons and so on. You can even use your scraps. They are so cute to give as a gift and who doesn’t have a few dozen paper bag albums? Penguins have been popping up everywhere spurred on by the several hit movies starring the lovable feathered tuxedo friends. Craft TV Weekly has posted a new episode this week showing how to stamp a darling penguin themed checkbook cover. The technique used for the multicolor background is one that could be used on many different projects making it worth taking the time to watch even if you are not interested in penguins (but, come on, they are so cute! ).

No more ugly files!

Kerflop has posted a great pictorial tutorial (I rhymed) at Flickr . This is an idea I will be using and soon. I am going to try it for my hanging file folders in my Desk Apprentice and for the regular file folders like in the tutorial. There is no shortage of 12×12 papers in my studio and I love the idea of using them to decorate and make my boring office supplies more fun and more me!

I hope I am not. A entire drawer of my desk is filled with outdated or current but boring business cards. You know the type. You can choose from a couple of dozen designs and only pay for shipping. Once I did order some custom business cards that I designed myself and are at least more creative than the average card even if they did not stray from the standard 2×3.5 inch rectangle. That business, however, was sold before I ever got to use more than a handful of my cute custom cards. Lately, I have been thinking that I need to break out the paper crafting skills and make up some handmade business cards that really truly reflect who I am am and the professional image I want to present. Now, a handmade business card would not work for someone like my husband whose professional image involves strong corporate motivational skills and a wicked knowledge of spreadsheets, but for me who needs to better know for my prowess with glitter, handmade cards are exactly the correct image.

The Craftzine.com blog recently featured some very creative cards. Their featured cards and inspiration cam from a great Flickr group dedicated to the Art of the Business Card. Even if you are not in the market for new business cards of your own, it is a fun group to look through to see what other people have come up with to represent themselves.
